The Virden Indoor Rodeo has been voted “Rodeo of the Year” by the cowboys and cowgirls multiple times over the last two decades. Virden Indoor Rodeo & Wild West Daze was honoured to have been named “Event of the Year” at the 2015 Tourism Westman Tribute to Tourism Awards. Efforts were once again acknowledged when presented with the Manitoba Tourism Event of the Year 2015 in the $5000 and above category. Proving the longstanding popularity, the rodeo is entering it’s 32nd year.
There’s no two ways about it. Cowboys, cowgirls and fans all come to Virden in August for great rodeo action. Be prepared to spend the whole weekend so you don’t miss out. The event is dual sanctioned by the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association (MRCA) and Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA). It attracts contestants from Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. It is known as a make it or break it event for those wanting to earn points to take part in the MRCA and CCA finals.
Virden Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Daze is kicked off with a community BBQ hosted by Corex. This event is located in Virden’s picturesque Victoria Park on 7th avenue from 11 am -2. Celebrations pick up again Thursday evening in the down town area with entertainment for all ages. This is hosted and organized by the Virden Community Chamber of Commerce and would not be successful without tremendous support from sponsors and local businesses.
Every year the Virden Community Chamber of Commerce focuses on getting new entertainers and activities for all to enjoy. The combination of face painting, mechanical bull and sidewalk sales creates an atmosphere of fun and entertainment for all ages. Exciting, new attractions have been added, so come on down and help us kick this year’s rodeo off with a bang!!!!
